Touchdown Frankfurt!

May 1, 2010

Only one more flight to Accra, Ghana then a five hour trip tomorrow to the hospital. You can check out the hospital website by clicking on their link here.

It’s a little outdated so hopefully, I can post more pics while we’re there…fingers crossed for an okay internet connection at the hospital. Once again, I realize that global travel is great when you get there but the interim traveling does wear me down. It’s fun to hear all the different languages on the plane, but one thing is constant across cultures, people can get really cranky when flying for a long time in a confined space. It helps to remind myself that putting others before onself is a biblical principle.

Nevertheless unlike the last trip to Kenya when we thought the plane was going to fall out of the sky while flying through a bad thunderstorm on the way to Detroit, this trip has been pretty uneventful so far. I’m looking forward to catching up with my anesthesiologist friend Peter Lee here in Frankfurt. He’s flying in from Ann Arbor to spend 10 days in Togo with us. It’ll be great to fly with him to Ghana.

I guess I’ll catch up on the previous week since we have a longer layover in Frankfurt, and I’m a little behind on updating the blog.

Oh boy this is a lot of stuff....

Packing this time took several days as we’re bringing close to 200 lbs of mail, missionary special food requests (like that bacon!), medical equipment and supplies to Togo in our luggage. In addition, we’re packing a 30lb echo machine in our carry-on. Thankfully, one of my friends Jeremy lent me his large suitcase again so we could pack the gear. You can see the before picture here on the left.

Noah had fun staying up late “helping” us pack. I think he just had fun hanging around with mom and dad, watching the Samaritan’s Purse Children’s Heart Videos online.

That’s about all for now. 20 minutes until we board for the Accra flight. Lufthansa has been a great airline so far for the trip. Thanks for all your prayers and support! I may not be able to post again until Sunday evening.
