Camera down!

March 15, 2011

Ack! After all my travels to Africa, I’ve run into my first two technical difficulties. The lens filter on my 18-200 workhorse lens is scratched. That’s not a big problem because it’s supposed to protect my primary lens underneath. And the quality of the pictures are not affected thankfully. What is a bigger problem is the fact that the end of my lens is loose. I can clearly see three small screws that are supposed to hold the end of the lens down. However, I don’t know how to fix it nor do I have the tools. So with great hesitancy I left my camera at one of the local shops. Fortunately, Dr. Matthews has a place in town that he trusts. I hope they can fix it otherwise this blog will be a little tricky. Well at least on the bright side, I’ve gotten almost 10,000 exposures out of the camera in three years.

I will post some pictures later that I took before the camera went down. And try to use my camera phone in the meantime.

More to follow when I get my camera back hopefully today.
